A soft little hippo was stuffed in a box
with hugs and kisses and valentines socks
with love... from a Grandma... to a plump baby boy
who would soon make that hippo his most beloved toy.
Hippo was put in the bassinet... right by his toes
to watch over the baby at night as he grows.
Soon after that... to mommy's alarm...
that baby slept with hippo tucked under one arm.
Big sister named him Henry...
Mommy wrote him a silly song
and when baby would cry...it wouldn't last long.
Mommy would make Henry dance across baby's belly...
And he would soon giggle and jiggle
like a bowl full of jelly.
That baby quickly grew into a wild little boy
and Henry his most beloved, special toy
Henry sleeps every night, tucked under is his arm
and if Henry's misplaced it's cause for alarm.
Henry goes with him all around town...
He plays with him inside, outside, upstairs and down,
and when that little boy gets himself in a fix...
Henry is often caught up in the mix.
Henry is used as a weapon... to hit his big sis
or as an accomplice to feed raisins to the fish
And just today... to mommy's surprise...
Henry likes to use the toilet.... to DIVE!
Poor Henry discovered its not much fun
to be plastered in toilet paper when all is done...
So off to the washer he sadly goes....
but came out silky soft...and smells like a rose.
He was soon reunited with his favorite boy...
who spent the afternoon crying for his toy.
Now Henry is happy, safe, and warm
in his favorite place..... under Jeffy's arm.
Sorry Henry!
We love you!!

Reunited at last!!!Afterthought.......after posting this about "Hippo" I feel I really need to write something about Caitlyn's Ducky...which has been a part of our lives for almost 4 years and has almost no stuffing or fur left. But....that would be a LOOOOOOOONG story!!

Missy, that was such a darling poem! You are such a good little writer! You should publish that cute poem and have someone illustrate it! Jeffy looks so adorable. Isn't it funny the things they get attached to.
PS Rebekah still sleeps with her raccoon, bashful that her Grandma and Grandpa Francis gave her at 2 years old and she's 33!

I thought it should be a book too! I love toddlerhood, it's the best! I wish Morg cared about a stuffed animal... he get's worked up over his "kid scissors" so he can cut up play dough.
he is such a cutie pie! jeff told us the story while he was here. It was so good to see him! I want to come visit sometime soon. miss you guys a ton. I want to see little jeffy all grown up! I can't believe how big he and caitlin are getting. it is crazy
